My Approach to Healing
Welcome to The Healing Space, it is a pleasure to have you here. My name is Clare Tiley and I have created this space to share with you. I offer a physical space to rest, recharge and discover the healing power of human touch through Reiki, Indian Head Massage and Facial Rejuvenation Massage and a virtual space to inspire, motivate and learn.
My own healing journey began when a kind friend offered me a free Reiki session when she saw me hobbling about on the school run having completed the London Marathon (slowly!) a few days before. Unaware of Reiki at that time, I rocked up later that afternoon a little apprehensive and sceptical but put my trust in my friend as I laid down on the therapy bed. Suffice to say I needn’t have worried – I left the session thoroughly rested, as if I had enjoyed a whole night’s sleep, and, miraculously, my muscles had loosened and my feet felt less sore! I left grateful and bemused and started to look into the ‘sorcery’ I had witnessed! Well, once you start…
Fast forward six years and that same friend that gave me the gift of Reiki is now my Reiki Master, and has led me through my own journey of Reiki discovery and attunement so that I am now able to use this wonderful gift to help heal myself and others. I can honestly say this journey has been life changing; Reiki connects you to what I like to think of as our ‘life force’, stripping you bare of the pretensions and materialism of our frenetic, modern world. It allows you to connect to your spirit and feel the wisdom and power that many of us have simply forgotten we have.
As my personal journey continues, I am now brimming with excitement to share my new skills and knowledge and have created The Healing Space to provide a calm oasis for those looking to soothe a busy mind and de-stress a tired body. In the peaceful surroundings of my countryside garden in Westerham, Kent, I hope to have created the perfect space for you to unwind and completely relax whilst enjoying a treatment centred on ancient therapeutic healing techniques. I look forward to seeing you there, and perhaps accompanying you on your own healing journey.
Credentials
I have had many re-incarnations in this life – I have worked in the arts sector, for charities, for large corporations, local authorities and for family. I have been an administrator, a researcher, an artist and creator, a manager and a shop worker and I will always be devoted as a wife to my husband and mother to my three beautiful boys. Whilst I have enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) all of these roles, I have always struggled to feel a sense of ‘purpose’ and belonging and have often felt on the outside, looking in.

In all circumstances, I have taught my children to follow their hearts, be kind, and to seek happiness as their end goal. In 2020, in the depths of an enforced ‘lockdown’ and a deep depression I remembered to heed my own advice and looking at myself square in the mirror I asked, “what is my purpose in life”. Much to my surprise and gratitude, a strong voice from within answered – “you are a healer”. The surprise came as I had never considered this as a possibility, let alone a career choice, and the gratitude followed as listening to this voice has led me to the most beautiful people, fascinating knowledge and wisdom and a deep sense of contentment and happiness.
So that’s really how it all began! I gave up my ‘day job’ in 2021 and have been eagerly studying from that day forward – anything and everything that interests me and brings that wonderful feeling of happiness and contentment. After having a deeply healing experience of Reiki many years ago, Reiki became an obvious first choice and my dear friend and Reiki Master, Diana, has been guiding me on that path ever since; becoming a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner in November 2021. I am also part of a wider Reiki community in my local area (participating in Reiki shares and distance healing) and nationally as a member of the UK Reiki Federation.
The next therapy I was keen to learn was Indian Head Massage – one of the best feelings in the world (in my opinion!) is sat in the hairdressers, having my hair washed, and then that bit at the end where they massage your scalp for a few minutes…bliss. Well, I don’t ever want that to end – so a treatment where you get over half an hour of blissful shoulders, neck and scalp massage? – yes please!

I found a very talented and experienced teacher locally who specialises in Champissage; using a massage technique based on the ancient Ayurvedic Healing System. As it turned out, I was incredibly fortunate to find her – Lesley was one of the first trainers at the London Centre of Indian Champissage International (LCICI) and was trained by Narendra Mehta, the founder of this centre, who brought the Champissage form of Indian Head Massage over from India in 1995! I qualified as a therapist in December 2022.
Lesley introduced me to Facial Rejuvenation Massage through my study of Champissage. There is an element of face massage within Champissage and I became fascinated by the intricacies of the facial structure and muscles and the pleasurable feeling of tension release that came from massaging different areas. I began to study the history and techniques of Facial Rejuvenation Massage and soon decided to take the formal training; completing the course in February 2023.

And, it doesn’t end there… I am taking a course in mindfulness, am learning all about crystal healing, aromatherapy, herbal medicine, cooking with medicinal plants and foraged finds…and the wonders of the Tarot! I hope to evolve as I learn and would be happy to share my new found knowledge and wisdom with anyone that is interested – so watch this space!
I had the pleasure of Reiki sessions with Clare, a warm and compassionate soul, who clearly has a natural gift for healing. She took time and consideration discussing my areas of concern together with my medical history, which made me feel utterly at ease that she fully understood and that I was genuinely cared for. The setting was welcoming, relaxing, peaceful and comfortable. The feeling in my body during the session was quite remarkable, a warm gentle wave of tingling energy and in particular the area where I was in most discomfort. I hadn’t anticipated the mental and emotional benefit too, my mind feeling still. I left the sessions not only with the pain gone but a general sense of well-being, lighter, stress and tension free. My sleep and anxious state also improved. Clare suggested small, achievable ways on how to improve and nurture my general overall well-being.
